This year’s artist residency I was most fascinated by water and what this element communicates to me. In my first project I looked at its cleansing properties. How water can clean our souls and bodies. I reinterpreted Sir John Everett Millais Ophelia painting.
In my third installation I looked at the environmental aspects of water. By coming into contact with it every day during my stay, I started observing how the water’s properties changed during the day. I started taking samples of the sea in the morning and in the evenings, as well as inserting some sea life that was washed to the shore. The blue colour in some bottles is tinted water which was created by my painting process. This close examination brought up various questions of how human contact with natural elements are altered.
In this set of acrylic paintings I focused on the minimalistic effects, how the sea changes its forms.
