Another painting from my Greek residency collaboration with poet and writer Spyros Siamos, inspired by his poem:
“Ah, my shadow trapped in the Sun’s gold web,
spun of wave and movement.
Set free, I peer at my image in the dark depths,
and the soul becomes a vessel drifting through infinity.”
While painting this, I kept returning to the feeling of floating aimlessly in the sea — weightless, carried by the water, with the warm Greek sun falling softly over me.
I remember looking up through the surface and seeing two sparrows gliding effortlessly across the sky.
For a moment, everything felt suspended: the body, the water, the sky, time itself.
Perhaps this painting is my attempt to hold on to that feeling — of being completely free, quietly drifting between sea and sky.
