My second piece @arc.residency is a ceramic tile installation that draws inspiration from traditional Turkish Iznik tile panels. The central designs reflect the undulating rock formations surrounding Taskonaklar, while the borders are adorned with local flowers and plants that I encountered in the area. I began this project with pre-drawings to study the forms, allowing me to sculpt them into the ceramic panels later. Though designed as a cohesive installation, each piece can stand alone, much like puzzle pieces of the land that come together to create a unified whole. Each tile measures 14×14 cm, and the installation comprises 15 tiles in total. Special thanks to @aydin.afacan (an amazing local ceramic talent) for letting me use his studio for glazing and firing.
