Tree Spirit

91×106 cm, oil on canvas

This third painting was born from a tree I encountered during my artist residency @lostcoastartcolony in Puerto Rico. Its roots stretched into the river, dissolving the boundary between earth and water, as if drawing wisdom from both worlds.
I was deeply inspired by the island’s ancient understanding of nature as sacred—where rivers, trees, winds, and mountains are not merely landscapes, but living spirits, expressions of the divine.
In this piece, I explore the union of the feminine and the masculine, woven together through the divine presence that lives within us all. Nature becomes the bridge between these energies, a reminder of our original wholeness. Like the tree whose roots embrace the flowing water, we too are nourished when we reconnect with the living world and the sacred currents that move through it. “May we remember our connection to the earth, to each other, and to the divine within.”
