125 × 140 cm · acrylic, ink and spray paint on cotton
The second painting from my collaboration with Spyros @spyrosiamos inspired by his poem below.
There is something magical about the way a poem can move into another person and return as an image — transformed through their eyes, feelings and imagination.
This painting is especially close to my heart. To me, it holds a meeting between darkness and light, silence and emotion, the earthly and the cosmic. I see something mysterious and tender in it — a small universe held within a canvas.
Inspired by Spyros Siamos’ poem:
“I saw Sirius between my eyebrows
And the constellation of the Dragon in my cells.
My body tells the story of the universe,
from the beginning to the end.
Ah, the endless darkness of my silence
hold the galaxies with my emotions,
with my thoughts;
Life is written on it with white spikes of light.
All are lights in the world,
nothing black and dark.
Black is only the canvas, my presence,
that every moment holds
the painting of Cosmos.”
