A small beginning, born from a poem. 🌱
Created during my summer residency in Greece, these drawings grew from Spyros Siamos’s words about worlds blossoming out of darkness, and flowers and wild weeds rising side by side in the garden of life.
I was drawn to the idea of something emerging from the unknown, taking shape one frame at a time.
Thirty-four frames, a small world beginning to move — perhaps more will grow from here.
“The flowers of worlds blossom
from out the darkness of the eternal night.
Perfection is the soul’s flower
in its fullest bloom.
Flowers and wild weeds
rise side by side
within the garden of life.
From the great Winter of the universe
Spring begins
that very notion of Time
which sets all manifested things
to their trembling dance
Spring draws the suns nearer,
that their song
may be heard more deeply, more resoundingly.
What other Spring
could ever have given birth
to the suns?”
— Spyros Siamos
